“Skyscraper 2” (2024), starring Dwayne Johnson, is an intense action thriller that takes the high-stakes drama of the original movie to even greater heights. Set two years after the events of the first film, the sequel follows former FBI agent and security expert Will Sawyer as he faces a new and more dangerous challenge—this time in the heart of Tokyo, where the world’s tallest and most technologically advanced skyscraper is under threat.

Now a globally respected safety consultant, Will is invited to Tokyo to inspect the Sky Phoenix, a futuristic 360-floor skyscraper designed to be completely self-sustaining and powered by artificial intelligence. The building is a symbol of peace and technological progress, but during his visit, it is hijacked by a mysterious terrorist group with plans to use its systems to launch a cyber-attack that could shut down the global economy.
Trapped inside the skyscraper with thousands of people, including his teenage daughter who traveled with him, Will is once again forced to rely on his instincts, skills, and sheer determination. What makes this mission even more complicated is that the AI controlling the building is compromised and begins to see Will as the threat, turning the skyscraper’s own defense mechanisms against him.

The film combines breathtaking visuals, intense fight sequences, and heart-pounding suspense. One of the most impressive scenes features Will navigating the outside of the building during a typhoon, using only a broken drone to fly between levels. The movie also explores Will’s emotional struggle as a father trying to protect his daughter, while battling enemies who always seem one step ahead.
Dwayne Johnson brings a mix of vulnerability and strength to the role, portraying a man with physical limitations but unwavering courage. His performance is balanced by a strong supporting cast, including a brilliant AI engineer who helps Will from the outside, and a chilling villain whose motives are as complex as they are dangerous.
“Skyscraper 2” delivers more than just action—it’s a story about resilience, technology’s double-edged sword, and the power of family. With its high-tech setting, relentless pace, and a hero worth rooting for, the film proves that even in a world of machines, human spirit and determination still matter most.
