28 YEARS LATER – Official Trailer (HD)

Set 28 years after the catastrophic rage virus outbreak, 28 Years Later immerses us in a world where remnants of humanity cling to survival amid decay and isolation. A tightly-knit community lives on a secluded island, connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended causeway—a fragile barrier between them and the haunted lands beyond. It is here that the film introduces Jamie, a weathered scavenger portrayed by Aaron Taylor‑Johnson, his wife Isla, played by Jodie Comer, and their twelve-year-old son Spike, brought to life by Alfie Williams.

Life begins to unravel when Spike embarks on a rite-of-passage journey to the mainland, seeking medical help for his ailing mother. The terrain beyond the causeway reveals a Britain transformed—not only by the infected, now faster and more cunning, but also by humanity’s own descent into barbarism. The horror is no longer rooted solely in the undead; it has permeated the living as well.

In their journey, Spike and his father encounter Dr. Ian Kelson, a former physician portrayed by Ralph Fiennes. He emerges as an unexpected beacon of hope—a man who might be odd, but whose actions are driven by compassion and resilience. Their alliance brings them into contact with fractured survivor pockets and savage new variants of infected, reflecting a world where both fear and wonder coexist.

The creative return of director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland infuses the film with both kinetic energy and psychological depth, echoing the primal dread and visceral storytelling of the franchise’s original installment. Their collaboration revives the post-apocalyptic mythos with a matured lens, exploring themes of isolation, intergenerational trauma, and societal breakdown that are as emotionally potent as they are terrifying.

Of particular note is the film’s innovative aesthetic. Many handheld sequences were shot using iPhone 15 Pro Max devices, lending an immersive, raw immediacy to the cinematic experience. Complemented by a haunting musical score from Young Fathers, whose eerie and layered compositions deepen the emotional gravity, the film stands out both technically and artistically.

Upon its release on June 20, 2025, 28 Years Later received positive critical acclaim and performed strongly at the box office, grossing over $150 million against a $60 million budget. It also marked the beginning of a new trilogy with its sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple already shot and scheduled for release in January 2026, promising to further expand the franchise’s dark and fascinating universe
